The West Virginia Department of Highways (DOH) presented two awards to the Pocahontas County Headquarters at a highway maintenance conference on April 29.

The 2010 Excellence in Roadway Maintenance Award was presented for overall road maintenance, including snow removal.

The 2010 CORE Maintenance Award was presented for excellence in mowing, ditching and patching.

Only one county in the state received either award, making the accomplishment especially impressive.

County DOH supervisor Jim McCoy accepted the award on behalf of his crew. McCoy said his men take great pride in their work and deserve all the credit for the awards.
