Thursday, July 8, 2010 - 5:10am
A semi-truck with an empty 30,000 gallon propane tank failed to make a sharp turn coming down Droop Mountain on June 29 and the tank broke loose and rolled off onto the roadway. The accident blocked traffic on Route 219 for nearly 24 hours before a crane could be brought in to load the tank onto another truck. Hillsboro and Marlinton fire departments, the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Department and West Virginia State Police responded to the accident scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
