9-1-1 Center to test CodeRed with All Call

Pocahontas County will utilize the CodeRED Emergency Notification System on Thursday, November 4, to call the entire county.
The calls will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the entire database has been attempted. This call will give the 9-1-1 Center the chance to operate the system as if there has been a county-wide disaster.
The message that is being delivered will state that it is a test only and that no emergency exists at this time.
Melvin Martin, Pocahontas County Emergency Management Director, suggests that all individuals and businesses take the time to visit the Pocahontas County Commission, Pocahontas Times, WVMR or Town of Marlinton websites and add contact information which may include cellular phones, etc. If your contact information is not in the database you will not receive a call when an urgent message is sent. In particular businesses should register, as well as individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number recently, those who use a cellular phone exclusively or have VoIP phones, such as Vonage, as their primary numbers and those who have businesses or camps here but reside elsewhere.
Those without internet access may call 304-799-3985, leave a message so that 9-1-1 personnel can make contact to assist in entering information.
