Sheriff's Department Accident Reports
The following accident reports were filed in the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Department between February 7 and March 22, 2011:
February 8: Nicholas A. Siebel, of Hurricane, was driving a 1993 Mercedes-Benz 400E east on WV Route 39, coming down Kinnison Mountain in snowy conditions, when he lost control, crossed the westbound lane, struck an embankment and overturned the vehicle, which came to rest on its roof in the westbound lane. No injuries reported. Siebel received a warning for failure to maintain control. Investigated by Captain Troy McCoy.
February 16: Enrique M. Martinez, of Dayton, Ohio, was driving a Volvo tractor/trailer east on Route 250, coming down Cheat Mountain with a load of charcoal, towards Durbin, in icy conditions, when the truck began sliding, struck an embankment and came to rest in a ditch. No injuries reported and no citation issued. Investigated by Deputy N.D. Simmons.
February 25: Anna M. Dickenson, of Green Bank, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt north on Route 219 near Slaty Fork, in snowy conditions, when she lost control, crossed the center line and sideswiped a 1997 Dodge Stratus operated by Wesley A. Adkison, of Mill Creek. Dickenson received a warning for failure to maintain control. Investigated by Deputy N.D. Simmons.
March 6: Norma J. Judy, of Bartow, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo north on Route 28 near Arbovale, in snowy conditions, when she lost control going around a left-hand turn, slid off the roadway, through a fence, over an embankment and struck a tree. No injuries reported and no citation issued. Investigated by Deputy D.M. Brock.
March 7: Trisha C. Warwick, of Marlinton, was driving a 1995 Subaru Impreza north on Route 28, below Gordon Dilley Road, when she ran off the west side of the road and overturned the vehicle in a ditch. Both Warwick and her passenger were transported to Pocahontas Memorial Hospital by EMS. No citation issued. Investigated by Deputy D.M. Brock.
March 9: Christopher B. Cassell, of Marlinton, was driving a 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer north on Stillwell Road in Marlinton, in sleet and hail conditions, when he lost control due to a slush-covered roadway, went over the embankment and struck a tree at the bottom of the embankment. Bad tire condition was listed as a contributing factor. No injuries reported and no citation issued. Investigated by Deputy D.M. Brock.
