SFFR gives public safety training
Shavers Fork Fire and Rescue Lieutenant Kelly Bostian helps teach a class in the use of an automated external defibrilator (AED) to Nebraska Beverage and Erica Beverage during a public safety class at Linwood Library on Saturday. Firefighter Charlotte Bradley was the primary instructor for the class. The fire station helped the Snowshoe resort purchase several AEDs at a discount and the devices have been placed at strategic locations throughout the resort. The devices can be used by untrained users and play step-by-step instructions when activated, but firefighters recommend familiarization training for staff at locations where AEDs are located. SFFR also presented a "hug a tree" class to teach children how not to get lost in the woods and what to do if they become lost.
