Northern Pocahontas Wellness Center forms committees

At the second meeting to discuss the need for a wellness center in the upper end of Pocahontas County, interested people formed committees to gather information and create a plan for the center.

Committees formed include 1) visiting similar facilities, 2) temporary site selection, 3) finding partners and grants, 4) getting 501(c)3 status, and 5) find a permanent site for the center. Serving on committees are Rachel Taylor, Mali Minter, Mike Holstine, Mike Stennes, Lauren Bennett, Lisa Wayne, Sue Ann Heatherly, Karen OメNeil and John Simmons.

Since the last meeting, Holstine analyzed submitted surveys and said there were a variety of responses, but the highest ranking activity was a swimming pool.

As the group discussed the price of a facility with all the amenities, they agreed it would be easier to build the center in pieces, begin with a core structure, then as the organization receives more money, add amenities like a swimming pool.
