Goldenseal featuring Jessie Beard Powell available at libraries

As a fundraiser for the Durbin Community Library building, all Pocahontas County libraries have copies of the winter edition of Goldenseal for sale.

This edition features Jessie Beard Powell on the cover. Powell, who turned 97 on May 6, lives at the Traveler’s Repose in Bartow. The story chronicles her life and the history of her home – the first stage coach stop west of the Alleghenies and the first post office in Pocahontas County.

The libraries have 75 copies for sale, and all proceeds go to the Durbin library building fund.

“We thought with Christmas it would be a good time to have them,” volunteer Julia Bauserman said.

To purchase a copy of the Goldenseal, visit your local library or contact Bauserman at 304-456-4915 or Durbin librarian Nancy Egan at 304-456-3142.
