Marlinton boil water advisory still in effect
A boil water advisory remains in effect in Marlinton due to a water main break behind the laundromat on Second Avenue.
The leak has been repaired and the water tanks are full, according to Mike Rider, town foreman. But water quality test results will not be received until Tuesday, so the boil water advisory has been continued until at least Wednesday, January 27.
Rider searched for two days, using a listening device to search for the leak, until he finally located it behind the laundromat. Town workers repaired the leak using a metal sleeve.
The leak is close to newly installed concrete that encases a stretch of water pipe. Rider thinks either the ground or the concrete shifted with changing weather, causing the break.
Customers on the Marlinton water system are advised to boil water at a full rolling boil for five minutes before drinking.
