Durbin council discusses tree issue

With only the three new members of council present at Monday nightメs meeting, Durbin council discussed a large tree on Fifth Avenue.

According to Mayor Donald Peck, resident Kenny Mick has voiced his concern about a tree beside his house. The tree has several dead limbs that hang over the road. Mick told Peck he worried that a limb could cause major damage if it fell into the road or onto a car.

Peck told council he received two bids to cut the tree down if that was the route they wished to take.

Recorder Paul Ransom reported that several neighbors have said they donメt want the tree cut down, they just want it managed. Ransom added that the tree is more than 100 years old.

Council decided to put out bids to have the tree trimmed and have all the dead limbs removed.

A work session to discuss town ordinances will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Councilmembers Emma Grace Nottingham and John Osborne were not present.
