Special council session held for parking ordinance committee
A parking ordinance committee appointed by Mayor Joe Smith met for a special session at the Marlinton Municipal Building on Monday.
"What we've got right now is nothing more than a proposal to give to the town council. It revises pre-existing parking ordinances for the town of Marlinton and it'll actually make it simpler. Most of the existing rules that were established will be maintained," said Marlinton town council member Norris Long. "The main issue is a two hour parking limit on main street and in the business district in Marlinton."
The parking ordinance committee was appointed as a result of complaints made to the mayor from local business owners on Eighth Street for parking for extended periods of time.
The proposal will be reviewed by town council at its next regular meeting January 9 at
7 p.m. at the Marlinton Municipal Building.
