Durbin council hires mayor as Durbin Days coordinator

Although Mayor Donald Peck declined the position of Durbin Days Heritage Festival coordinator at the January meeting, he had a change of heart at the meeting February 14.

Peck said he would take the position for $500, as long as he gets help from the town worker and another person.

Councilmember Mike Vance said council would pay Peck $700 and have the town worker assist him, as well as hire two workers at $7.30 an hour for 30 hours.

Peck said he appreciates the raise, but would work for $500. Council approved to pay Peck the $700.

Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity board member Jason Bauserman informed council that Habitat is looking for a location to build a new house in Durbin. He said a planned build in Pendleton County fell through, so the crew is hoping to build in another location.

Council said they would try to find land and a family to utilize the volunteersメ time.

Council scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, February 21, to discuss agenda items: vacant council seat, town judge, Durbin park and ordinances.
