Durbin council selects new member

With two letters of intent for the empty council seat in hand, Durbin Town Council held a special meeting February 21 to select a new councilmember.

Former recorder Paul Ransom and Dale Bacorn were the two residents to express interest in the seat. Members of council voiced their concern that neither candidate voted in the June election and should not be considered.

Councilmember Bob Gray said that if they didnメt pick someone, they would never fill the seat because only 19 people voted in the last election.

Mayor Donald Peck mentioned that Bacorn signed the petition to dissolve the town charter this past summer. Peck said he wasnメt going to hold that against Bacorn and is willing to give him a chance on the council.

Council, Peck and recorder John Osborne voted 4-2 for Bacorn to take the seat on council. Osborne and Gray casted opposing votes.
