Vance’s Consignment Shop has something for everybody
Durbin is home to one less empty store front with the addition of Vance’s Odd Jobs and Consignment Shop, owned by Mike and Crystal Vance.
The shop, a combination consignment store and hardware store, held a grand opening Saturday. Located in the former library across from Station 2 in Durbin, the shop has something for everyone.
“I told Crystal, ‘why not put a few consignment things in here,’ and I’ve also got my office in the back for my plumbing business,” Vance said. “I’m also selling brand new plumbing items.”
For consignment items, Vance said people can bring in items to sell, they settle on a price and Vance adds a percentage for the store. If the item hasn’t been bought within 30 days, Vance meets with the owner and they discuss lowering the price.
Vance said all electronic items are tested before they are priced to ensure that they function. Any electronic items sold are final, although Vance said he will accept returns on other items.
The store also has air conditioners, hot water tanks, toilets, breakers and other household items.
“We have stuff people need,” Vance said. “We don’t turn anybody away. I want everybody to be happy.”
The store is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
