Five of the eleven defendants in the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park scrap metal case appeared Thursday in Pocahontas County Circuit Court for pre-trial conferences.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the Winter Weather Advisory for Pocahontas County. The Advisory will be in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday, February 14. A low pressure system will move just southwest of the area through tonight.

A mid-winter warm-up, accompanied by heavy rain, brought high water to Pocahontas County communities along the Greenbrier River from Durbin to Seebert Thursday morning. County authorities went on alert as early as Tuesday as the weather system approached.
