Marlinton Middle School sixth and eighth grade students channeled Robin Hood and Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, as they participated in the month-long archery program this September.
The program was funded by a grant from the Snowshoe Foundation.

Judge James Rowe presided over one hearing in Pocahontas County Circuit Court Wednesday, September 26, according to Circuit Clerk Connie Carr.
As a result of that hearing, Rowe dismissed a charge of child abuse resulting in bodily injury against Danny Lambert on Thursday, Carr said.

The Northern Pocahontas County Community Wellness committee met September 26 at the NRAO Science Center to discuss further plans in using the annex building at Green Bank Elementary-Middle School as a temporary site for the wellness center.

The board of education visited Green Bank Elementary-Middle School Monday night for the first LSIC (Local School Improvement Council) meeting of the year.
Committee heads presented information and gave updates on programs at the school.

Natasha Elaine Trainer, 22, of Marlinton, appeared in court September 25 on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Bond was set at $100.

The Green Bank Artisans Cooperative Gallery reopened its doors Saturday after a few months of repair and restructuring.
When some co-op members decided to focus on the 4th Street Gallery in Marlinton, the upper end members made the choice to start over.

AT&T cellular service has been temporarily scaled back on Snowshoe Mountain. According to Mike Holstine, business manager at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, the service provider began a revision of all of its cellular distribution towers about three years ago.
