The environment is not something “out there” that we need think of only when convenient. Every time we take a breath, eat or drink, the environment enters our bodies, and becomes a part of us.

Wild Edibles Festival 2013
The 2013 Wild Edibles Festival is set for Saturday, April 20, at the Hillsboro Library and Hillsboro Elementary School. This free event is co-sponsored by the Pocahontas Nature Club and the Hillsboro Library Friends.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m.

The Hillsboro Library was transformed into a cozy coffee house venue on Saturday, March 2, for local writers to share their works with the community.

Denise Giardina is an acclaimed West Virginia author whose writing is grounded by her McDowell County coal camp roots. Her novels have won numerous awards, including the American Book Award, the Lillian Smith Award for fiction and the Boston Book Review Fiction prize.
