Crowds gather, despite downpour, for Treasure on the Mountain
Saturday's heavy showers put only a small damper on the Treasure on the Mountain event at Snowshoe. The raffle was postponed slightly past the start time because of the downpour but hopeful attendees gathered under ponchos and tents to listen to the drawings that took place every five minutes from 3 – 7 p.m.
Live music featuring Fallen Rock, of Mullens, free food and soft drinks were all part of the event.
Some of the more sought after prizes included a 2012 Chevy Camaro, a 2012 Ford F-150, a 2012 Harley Davidson Super Glide, and $30,000. Other prizes included home appliances, firearms and WVU season football tickets.
According to the Snowshoe Foundation website, over the past six years the raffle has generated more than $315,000, donated to local community organizations in Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster counties.
