<span>Lady Warriors win some, lose some on the road</span>

Week two and three of the 2010 high school volleyball season had the Lady Warriors traveling to Richwood, Petersburg, Monterey, Virginia, and Fayetteville for both PVC sets and sectional sets.

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity traveled to Richwood to face the Lumberjacks on September 7.ᅠ Both teams came home with victories and the Junior Varsity experienced a thrilling set in their season opener.

Freshman Kary Barb racked up the high score spot with 14 points, as well as a number of kills, to lead the Lady Warriors to victory in an exciting 25-12, 30-28 set.ᅠ Sophomore Gloria Jerome added an additional 11 with Freshman Lindsee Gay serving nine.ᅠ Jerome had a stellar game setting the ball for the kills from Barb.ᅠ The Varsity Lady Warriors saw sectional action with the Lumberjacks and came out with a victory of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-14.ᅠ Junior Miranda McNabb led all scorers with 16 points on an effective jump serve and recorded five kills.ᅠ Seniors Shelby Snead and Sarah Shears contributed 28 sets on the night to lead the attacks by McNabb and Junior Chloe Bland who racked up four kills.

The Lady Warriors returned to the Potomac Valley on September 9 to face Petersburg and East Hardy.ᅠ The Lady Warriors suffered their first losses on the season by losing to Petersburg 14-25, 25-16, and 19-25.

Shears led all scorers with 14 points and a great setting performance, but the Warriors could not record enough kills to sweep the set.ᅠ Bland led the attack with four kills.ᅠ The Lady Warriors then faced a well skilled East Hardy team and lost 15-25 and 13-25. Snead led the team with seven scoring serves.

September 14 had the Warriors facing our Virginia neighbors the Highland County Lady Rams.ᅠ Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity traveled to Monterey for an exciting set.ᅠ The Junior Varsity experienced their second win of the season in a three match set 15-25, 25-23, and 15-13.ᅠ Jerome led the scoring effort with 19 points and Sophomore Tiffany Alexander chipping in nine.ᅠ Jerome and Alexander led the attack with two kills each.ᅠ The Varsity team struggled on the first match 15-25, but came back to take the set 25-13, 25-20 and 25-10.ᅠ Senior Karen Wilfong led all servers with 13 points followed closely by Sophomore Heather Snead with 11.ᅠ McNabb recorded 8 kills and Bland followed with six all well placed by setters Shears and Snead.

The next night the Lady Warriors traveled to Fayetteville to face AA Bluefield and sectional rival the Fayetteville Pirates.ᅠ The Lady Warriors got off to a shaky start with Bluefield 18-25, but came roaring back to clinch the set 25-21 and 25-16.

Snead led the scoring with 18 points and Bland fired in 14.ᅠ McNabb and Bland led the attack with five kills each.ᅠ The Lady Warriors stayed on the attack and beat Fayetteville in two matches to clinch the set 25-17 and 25-14.ᅠ McNabb fired in eight jump serves and slammed two kills.ᅠ Snead led the attack with four kills while Shears managed an outstanding job setting the ball.

The Lady Warriors will host their home opener on September 23.
