Lady Warrior volleyball tri-match at Meadow Bridge

The Lady Warriors traveled to Meadow Bridge on Tuesday, September 21, to

face regional rival Meadow Bridge and sectional challenger Richwood for a

tri-match.ᅠ The Lady Warriors faced Meadow Bridge first in an initial set

that pitted two strong offenses against each other.ᅠ Seniors Shelby Snead

and Sarah Shears contributed many sets for Chloe Bland, Miranda McNabb

and Karen Wilfong to hammer at the Meadow Bridge team.ᅠ Bland stepped up

to contribute two blocks and McNabb contributed six serves and two aces

on her devastating jump serve. The excellent offensive and defensive

effort was not enough to ward off Meadow Bridge in an exciting 26-28 loss.

The next set had as many offensive and defensive plays but the Lady

Warriors were unsuccessful in clinching a win.ᅠ More than 18 sets and and 14

spiking attempts yielded five kills for the Lady Warriors.ᅠ Wilfong led with two kills,

classmate Shears contributed one, and Bland and Snead each with one.

Top scorer in the set was Snead with six and one ace,

followed by McNabb with three and two aces.ᅠ Final game score was

17-25.ᅠ The match was covered by WVVA and made the 11 oメclock news on

Channel 6.

The next set pitted the Lady Warriors against sectional challenger

Richwood with the Lady Warriors garnering another sectional win 25-9 and

25-14.ᅠ Lady Warrior coach Melvin Lindsey worked his bench well with many

Junior Varsity players seeing action. Snead led all scorers with

10 points including two aces with McNabb contributing eight with three aces.

Shears led the setting and hitting attack with nine sets and three kills.

The Lady Warriors had their home opener with state-line rival Highland County on Thursday, September 23.ᅠ The Lady Warriors cruised to an easy victory 25-12, 25-16 and 25-15.

Junior Varsity players saw action on this day, as well.ᅠ Senior Shelby

Snead led the serving attack with 17 followed by Bland with 12 and two

aces.ᅠ Bland also led the attack with seven kills and McNabb, Shears and

Snead chipped in two kills each.

The Lady Warriors take to the road on September 27 and 28, returning

to the Potomac Valley for sets at Petersburg and Moorefield.ᅠ They will

return to action at home on the 30th, facing time honored rival Tygarts

Valley in Junior Varsity and Varsity action.
