Rittenhouse is defender of the year
Five PCHS boys soccer players and three members of the girls team ranked with the stateメs best, according to a release from the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association.
Senior Ben Rittenhouse was named All-State Defender of the year, as well as first team defender.
Classmate Billy Kelley was named first-team forward. Kelley scored 55 goals in the regular season, 62 goals counting preseason scrimmage.
Chris Caplinger, senior, was named second team midfielder and senior Jake Sheets was named to the honorable mention list as a midfielder.
Dylan Kolonay was also named to the honorable mention list as a defender.ᅠᅠ
In the Coalfield Conference, Rittenhouse, Caplinger, Kelley, seniors Justin Dilley and Jesse Sharp were named to the first team; Sheets, Kolonay, freshman Abe Rittenhouse and junior Kurt Mothes were named to the second team; andᅠ freshmen Trevor Caplinger and Jesse Bolyard were named to the honorable mention list.
The Warriors were 17-3-2 for the season. Those three losses reflect two losses to Elkins, one in regular season and one in post season.
The Lady Warriors Soccer team had an unprecedented three players named to the All-State list.
Senior Heidi Beverage was named to the list as a first team defender. Seniors Katie Ford and Michelle Holstine, midfield and forward, respectively, were named to the second team.
Coach John Ford was not available Tuesday to release the list of PCHS Lady Warriors named to the Coalfield Conference.
