Meadow Bridge defeated Mercer Christian 32-30, 25-16, and 25-20 earlier in the day to earn their slot in the championship game.ᅠ Meadow Bridge will also represent Region 3 at the state tournament in Charleston.
モGreater Beckley [Christian] was one of the best teams weメve seen all year.ᅠ We hung in there and played hard.ᅠ It just wasnメt meant to be this year, but maybe next year,ヤ said Head Coach Melvin Lindsey.
モWe had three major highlights this season.ᅠ We swept Fayetteville and took a game off of Pendleton County and Meadow Bridge. Those were all firstメs for me in my career as the coach and also for many of the players.ᅠ They may have also been firstメs for the program,ヤ according to Coach Lindsey.
モThe team this year exceeded my expectations.ᅠ We had 15 wins, made it to the regionals, and were one game away from the state tournament.ᅠ It was a great season and very enjoyable.ᅠ Sure it had its ups and downs, but overall it was great.ᅠ With several players on our JV squad coming up and some strong returners, our goal is to make it to states next year,ヤ said Coach Lindsey.ᅠ
