Wiley and Simonin take state honors
Seniors Jimmy Wiley and Jerry Simonin were selected to the West Virginia Sports Writers Class A all-state boys basketball team last week.
First team selection Wiley led the 10-7 Warriors in four statistical categories and scored in double-figures in 16 games.
The 5-11 guard averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 assists, 7.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.
Wiley racked up five double-doubles and his first career triple-double during the 2009-10 season with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against Bath County on December 29.
Wiley recorded a career and season-high 38 points against Webster County on February 23 and grabbed a career and season-high 15 boards against East Hardy on January 27.
Simonin was named to the honorable mention team.
The 6-1 forward ranked second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game.
Simonin also contributed 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for PCHS.
Simonin knocked down a career and season-high 29 points against Bath County on December 16 and scored in double-figures in 12 games.
Wiley and Simonin were both lethal offensive options for the Warriors from behind the arc combining for 79 treys on the season.
Wiley nailed a team-high 46 three-point field goals while Simonin added 33.
Wiley also hit a team-high five treys in three contests while Simonin netted four three-pointers in two games.
