Four PCHS gridders receive All-State honors
The West Virginia Sportswriters Association recognized four Pocahontas County High School football players with All-State honors.
Senior Evan Rose, who excelled at multiple positions for the Warriors, was named first team All-State punter.
Senior Jesse Hoke, who rushed for more than 1,500 yards despite being sidelined for a month with an injury, was named second team All-State running back.
Senior Seth Doss, a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks at linebacker, who also played offensive line, received special honorable mention.
Sophomore Kyler Doss, who proved his outstanding running ability during Hoke's absence, and excelled as defensive back, received honorable mention.
The Warriors finished the regular season with a 6-4 record and ranked number 14 in the state. After jumping out to an early lead, the Warriors lost a hard-fought, first-round playoff game against number three-ranked Bishop Donahue, 34-14.
