PCHS sophomore Wes Felton made Pocahontas County proud when he was selected as the Gatorade Standout Player of the Week for his team at the conclusion of the Cal Ripken, Jr. baseball training camp on July 22. Felton batted .429 with two doubles and a single during the camp, while only striking out once. He pitched 2 innings, struck out six and gave up just one hit. The Standout Player award is presented to the player showing the most "heart, hustle and soul" during camp. Felton, who played catcher for most of the camp, was also named his team's most valuable player. 193 youngsters from 48 states and 10 different countries attended the week of training.
